PROGRAMMES

COMMUNITY DENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMME

 “Oral Hygiene Week” was celebrated from 1st August 2007 in the premises of Dept. of Community Dentistry and Periodontia. Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Thiru. E. Valsaraj presided over the function.  Colgate Palmolive sponsored a dental health pack, which was distributed by the Hon’ble  Minister to the public. Dental Health Exhibition and Health Education Talk were held as part of the programme. 

General Dental Camps and Special Dental Camps were held during the period from April 2007 to March 2008.  A total of 15,530 patients attended the camps.

A camp was organized for Karasur Village orphanage of Deepaoli Convent, Puducherry on 30th April 2007. 55 patients were treated.

A camp was conducted for students of Puducherry Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology on 23rd September 2006. 150 students were treated.

A camp was conducted for Tsunami affected students in St. Ann’s Higher Secretary School, Cuddalore on 4th December 2006

 

 DENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION  PROGRAMMES:

  •   On 14th June 2003, an awareness programme on “Tobacco and its ill effects” was conducted at Acharya College of Education, Villianur.

 

  •   One day training programme on Oral Health Care for Zoology lecturers working in Higher Secondary Schools of Govt. of Puducherry was conducted by faculty members from the Dept. of Community Dentistry and Dept. of Pedodontics in November 2003.     

SCHOOL DENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMMES:

  •  School Dental Health Programmes are conducted on  a regular basis, covering all the schools in Puducherry.       

DENTAL CAMPS

  • Regular weekly dental camps at two Primary Health Centres (Ariyankuppam and Villianur) and two Community Health Centres (Karikalampakkam and Mannadipet) are being conducted.
